Covid saved my life

Yep, you read that right! Covid saved my life. I found out that I had a life-threatening autoimmune disease that could have gone undetected for years until it was potentially too late. On top of that, I didn’t end up marrying my cheating fiancé.

Who am I?

I’m Sam, the CEO & owner of Sam Can Coaching and official NLP Life Coach. I’m 31 years old, a single mum to a 7-year-old wildling. An autoimmune disease warrior & general all-round badass, if I do say so myself.

Storytime?

Let’s go back to Jan 2020; my childhood sweetheart whisked me away to Dubai & proposed to me on our 8-year anniversary on the beach in front of the hotel that looks like a sail, you know, the one I mean. Unreal, all my dreams had come true; we already had our beautiful baby boy, Athen & the next step in this fairytale happened in the most beautiful way possible. A dream come true, right? Wrong!

6 weeks after arriving home, we went into lockdown & I got COVID pretty early! Remember when people were going into hospital & dying & everyone was washing their hands to Happy Birthday twice? Yeah, around that time!

I was sick, super sick & ended up in hospital worrying that I’d actually never come home. I did eventually come home, as my recovery was taking months; I just wasn’t getting better!

Cutting a very long story short, they did loads of tests & diagnosed me with an autoimmune disease called vasculitis. The disease had attacked my lungs & caused so much scar tissue that my 4-year medical Guinea pig journey started (4 years taking us up to today… yep, still ongoing!)

Feeling grateful

Unfortunately, most people don’t find out they have this disease until they are in their 50s & it’s affected their organs to the point of no return! So I have to be grateful to COVID for helping them figure that out!

The second thing I have to be thankful for is the fact that if it weren’t for COVID, I’d have married the childhood sweetheart who turned out to be not so sweet & not moved our wedding date back! Meaning, I’d have married a cheating narcissist as if being with him for 12 years & co-parenting wasn’t bad enough. Imagine going through a divorce, too?!

The affair aftermath

The affair was a massive shock but was the best thing to ever happen! I moved out of our family home & got myself a tiny little flat closer to where home was originally! My son moved school & has made the best friends  ever

How I got here

Let's jump to February 2023 now, when my boss, who is a well-known coach herself, invested in me.  She saw the potential in me. And guess what… she was fucking right!

I absolutely did find my calling.

I found my ‘why’.

I am now closer to my soul purpose than I’ve ever been.

So, I guess going through all of that led me to exactly where I was supposed to be.

Right here, helping you.

Omg Sam you are a real warrior and testament to that everything happens for a reason.

…., and we would have also not met, which would have been a Desaster. You are a great coach and such an inspiration! Xxx

Your fellow coach and friend Sue
